Austin Chang
FOUNDER
Austin Chang is a producer and filmmaker. He founded Creative Class 6 to create activating content for causes and individuals seeking to build a better future. In his work he seeks to cultivate collaborative and caring relationships in which creativity can thrive.
As a bi-racial artist, Austin strives to tell stories of universal appeal that bring people of different backgrounds together to observe life through a common lens. Having started out in camera on episodic television, feature films and commercials, he is always searching for unique ways to photograph each project cinematically. In his exposure to the documentary format, he discovered a new world and cinematic process—filming real people in intimate, sometimes remote settings, often reveals an essential pearl that sets their stories apart from all others. This experience with the nonfiction format has added a new dimension to his appreciation of the magic of cinema.
Austin holds a BFA in cinematography from the School of Visual Arts and has been a member of the International Cinematographers Guild since 2014.
Austin enjoys taking walks with his wife, Sheily, son, Greyson, and their rescue dog, Benito, in Bayside, Queens. He spends many of his weekends in rural Upstate Columbia County, NY at his family’s farm.
